One afternoon on a game drive on the farm in South Africa I was volunteering, we saw a wild jackal at one of the waterdams. Since I know jackals are very skittish, I thought he would run off before getting a photo. But the Jackal stayed and was very calm and curious. Eventually it even came closer to us and after about half an hour of laying down it decided to run off.
